The Wisconsin Election Commission has notified the Village that there was an error on the ballots that have been printed for the upcoming November election. Wisconsin Statutes allow independent candidates to include a statement of principle, if any, in five words or less, along with their name on the ballot. In the race for Congressional District 2, Douglas Alexander, who is running as an independent, should have the words "Term Limits for Congress" after his name instead of "Independent".
The Village is in the process of mailing a letter to all absentee voters who have already received their ballot. The letter will also be included with future absentee requests and posted during in-person voting.
- If you have already returned your absentee ballot and not wish to make any changes, no action is required on your part.
- If you have already returned your absentee ballot, and do wish to change your vote, you may contact the Clerk's office to spoil your ballot and be issued a new absentee ballot.
- If you are just receiving the notice with your ballot, the mistake will not affect the votes cast on your ballot.
